Creative, confidence-building studio portraits for children and teens — using movement, colour and light so they can shine as the main character in their own story.
*All portraits are created in-studio using controlled creative lighting. These are not natural-light sessions.
We use shutter-drag, LEDs, colour, shadows and interactive movement to create portraits that feel alive.
Sessions are interactive, positive and confidence focused. Fun for kids who don’t love being photographed, focused on their passion not posing.
Every session follows a clear creative plan so children feel supported, not overwhelmed. Parents can contribute to the session if preferred and view Images as we create them!
Play with LIGHT Started when I wanted to express how I felt about watching my son do Karate. His strong focus, natural movements, determination and strength made him exciting to watch. How could I capture that whole package in one still image? These kids work so hard to perform at their best in any arena. I wanted to create something empowering to encourage them to see themselves as the awesome next generation that they are, in their own field of expertise.
Now of course, I have enjoyed capturing any type of sport in such a way, using many types of lighting. I particularly love dance, not only does my daughter dance beautifully but I also rejoined dance as an adult myself. Dance is full of emotion just as photography is, and combining the two now seems like a no brainer. We love to play as much as we can with all techniques including but not limited to:
Shutter-Drag - Uses long exposure times to fully embrace the movements taken to get to a particular posture or stance. Capturing movement and focus with captivating vibrance and strength.
Coloured Gels - These help to enhance mood and charactor in an image, making it perfect for telling a story.
Star Filters - Love how these turn shimmering sequins into stary sparkles, need i say more!
Smoke - The smoke creates atmosphere and drama, capturing colours and light in dramatic ways.
